Spine Size & Sheet Capacity
Choose the spine size based on your sheet count and paper type. Standard 20lb. paper allows a higher sheet count, while 32lb. paper is thicker and reduces capacity.
Capacities are general estimates. Each box contains 10 covers of the same size and color. vPaper is sold separately.
| Spine Size | 20lb. Paper | 32lb. Paper |
|---|---|---|
| 20 (3 mm) | 20 sheets | 15 sheets |
| 40 (5 mm) | 40 sheets | 30 sheets |
| 60 (7 mm) | 60 sheets | 40 sheets |
| 80 (8 mm) | 80 sheets | 60 sheets |
| 100 (12 mm) | 100 sheets | 80 sheets |
| 120 (15 mm) | 120 sheets | 90 sheets |
| 160 (18 mm) | 160 sheets | 120 sheets |
| 190 (21 mm) | 190 sheets | 140 sheets |
Using heavier paper, tabs, inserts, or printed dividers? Size up one step when you are close to the maximum capacity.

Custom Foil Die Plate Charge
New custom foil logo orders require a one-time die plate setup charge. The die plate is used to create your custom foil imprint and is charged once per new logo or new artwork, not once per box ordered.
If you are ordering multiple boxes with the same new logo, the die plate charge only needs to be added once. If you are placing a repeat order and we already have your approved die plate on file, you do not need to add a new die plate charge again.
When selecting options above, choose Existing logo / die plate for repeat orders, or choose New logo / new die plate when submitting new artwork.
Compatible Machines
Unibind Hard Covers work with the current Unibind thermal binding machine lineup and other compatible Unibind systems.
For best results, insert your pages into the cover, heat the steel spine on the binding machine, crimp the spine when required, and allow the finished book to cool before handling.
Best Uses for Unibind Hard Covers
Client Presentations
Proposals, sales presentations, real estate books, financial reports, and polished customer-facing documents.
Office & Training
Training manuals, policy books, employee handbooks, internal reports, and department reference materials.
Professional Documents
Business plans, project books, course materials, finished manuals, and short-run presentation books.
Hard covers are the right choice when the finished document needs to look more permanent, polished, and presentation-ready than a standard report cover, coil bind, or comb bind.
More About Unibind Hard Covers
Unibind Hard Covers are designed for professional thermal binding systems that create finished books without punching holes through the pages. The steel spine holds the pages in place while the thermal resin bonds the document edge, creating a strong, clean spine.
These covers are a strong fit for offices, schools, real estate teams, print shops, training departments, and anyone producing client-ready reports or presentation books. The finished piece has the look and feel of a hardcover book while still being produced in-house with a compatible Unibind machine.
The optional window cut is useful when each book needs a different title, client name, property name, or project name. Foil stamping is better when you want a permanent branded logo or repeated design across multiple covers.
For organizations that want better looking bound documents without outsourcing every small run, Unibind Hard Covers are a practical way to create professional hardcover presentations on demand.
Manufactured by Peleman Industries
Peleman Industries has specialized in professional document presentation since 1939. Unibind systems and covers are engineered for reliable thermal binding, polished presentation quality, and repeatable in-house production.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these covers compatible with my Unibind machine?
Yes. Unibind Hard Covers work with UniBinder 60, UniBinder 120, UniBinder 8.1, UniBinder 8.2, and other compatible Unibind thermal binding systems.
How do I choose the right spine size?
Count your pages, note your paper type, and choose the closest capacity from the chart. If you are using heavier paper, tabs, inserts, or dividers, size up one step when you are close to the limit.
Is vPaper recommended?
Yes. vPaper helps create a better lay-flat presentation and can improve the finished look of printed books. Because it is thicker than standard copy paper, it reduces the number of sheets that fit in each cover size.
Can I add branding like logos or titles?
Yes. You can choose foil stamping for logos or text, and you can choose an optional window cut to display a printed title page or logo page.
Is the die plate charge per box?
No. The die plate is a one-time setup charge for a new logo or new artwork. If we already have your approved die plate on file, you do not need to add it again for repeat orders.
What colors are available?
Standard colors include Black, Dark Blue, Aluminum, White, Quartz, Azur, Dark Green, and Bordo.
How are the covers packaged?
Each box contains 10 covers of the same size and color. Volume price breaks may be available depending on the item and quantity ordered.
Are larger capacity covers available?
Larger or special capacity covers may be available by request. Contact us directly if you need a size or configuration not shown in the standard options.
What is the typical lead time?
Standard colors and sizes usually ship quickly. Custom options such as window cuts, foil stamping, and new die plate setup may add time for artwork approval and production.

Fast and Efficient Service With Great Products
Advanced Filing was fast to ship my order even though it was in 2 shipments. It is nice to have supplies shipped fast and not using Covid as a reason for slow shipments like so many other businesses do. I appreciate the fast professional service from Advanced Filing.
