Unibind Crystal Flex Covers by Peleman are clear, one-piece thermal binding covers designed for professional reports, proposals, manuals, presentations, menus, catalogs, and client-facing documents. Each cover combines a crystal-clear front, SteelResin™ binding spine, and matte back cover in one ready-to-bind piece.
Crystal Flex Covers allow the printed title page to remain visible through the clear front while creating a clean, permanent thermal bind. No punching, combs, coils, staples, or mechanical assembly are required. Insert the pages, place the document in a compatible Unibind machine, allow it to cool, and the presentation is complete.
Quick Highlights
- Crystal-Clear Front Cover: Keeps the printed title page, logo, project name, or customer information visible.
- Matte Back Cover: Adds protection and gives the finished document a clean, professional appearance.
- One-Piece Construction: The clear front, binding spine, and matte back are already attached for easy assembly.
- SteelResin™ Binding: Thermal resin creates a secure, permanent bind without punching holes through the pages.
- Multiple Spine Sizes: Available for documents ranging from approximately 15 to 340 sheets, depending on paper weight.
- Fast Binding Process: Insert the pages, heat the spine, allow the document to cool, and finish.
- Unibind Compatible: Designed for compatible Unibind and Peleman thermal binding systems.
- Professional Presentation: A cleaner alternative to comb binding, coil binding, stapling, and standard report covers.
- Title Page Visibility: Creates a customized appearance without requiring custom printing directly on the cover.
Crystal Flex Spine Size & Sheet Capacity
Choose the spine size based on the number of sheets and the paper weight. Standard 20 lb. paper allows a higher sheet count, while thicker 32 lb. presentation paper such as vPaper reduces the number of sheets that will fit.
Capacities are general estimates. Include the thickness of tabs, inserts, dividers, laminated sheets, or specialty stock when selecting a cover size.
| Spine Size | 20 lb. Paper | 32 lb. vPaper | Box Qty. |
|---|---|---|---|
| 03 mm / 1/8" | 20 sheets | 15 sheets | 110 covers |
| 05 mm / 3/16" | 40 sheets | 30 sheets | 96 covers |
| 07 mm / 5/16" | 60 sheets | 40 sheets | 88 covers |
| 09 mm / 3/8" | 80 sheets | 65 sheets | 72 covers |
| 12 mm / 1/2" | 100 sheets | 80 sheets | 66 covers |
| 15 mm / 5/8" | 120 sheets | 90 sheets | 60 covers |
| 18 mm / 3/4" | 160 sheets | 110 sheets | 44 covers |
| 24 mm / 1" | 220 sheets | 145 sheets | 48 covers |
| 36 mm / 1-1/2" | 340 sheets | 230 sheets | 24 covers |
Using heavier paper, tabs, inserts, dividers, laminated sheets, or specialty stock? Choose the next larger spine when the document is close to the stated capacity.
Cover Design & Binding Features
Crystal-Clear Front Cover
The clear front allows the first printed page to become the visible cover of the finished document.
This works well for proposals, title pages, branded reports, menus, catalogs, manuals, and presentation books.
Matte Back Cover
The matte back cover protects the final page and gives the finished document a clean, professional feel.
It provides a more polished presentation than loose pages or an ordinary report cover.
One-Piece Cover Design
The clear front, thermal binding spine, and matte back cover are permanently attached as one complete cover.
A score near the spine helps the front cover open smoothly while keeping assembly simple.
Permanent SteelResin™ Binding
The steel spine and thermal resin bond the page edges to create a secure, professional document.
No punching, coils, combs, staples, or loose binding parts are required.
How to Use Crystal Flex Covers
Choose the Spine Size
Count the pages, note the paper thickness, and select the appropriate cover from the capacity chart.
Prepare the Pages
Align the printed pages neatly and make sure the title page is positioned at the front of the document.
Insert the Document
Place the pages evenly into the spine with the title page facing the crystal-clear front cover.
Bind the Cover
Place the assembled document into a compatible Unibind thermal binding machine and complete the heating cycle.
Cool the Document
Allow the finished document to cool completely before handling so the adhesive can form its strongest bond.
Compatible Unibind Machines
Choose the Unibind machine that best matches your document volume and preferred production method.
For best results, insert the pages evenly, complete the heating cycle, and allow the finished document to cool before handling.
Best Uses for Crystal Flex Covers
Business Presentations
Create client proposals, sales presentations, financial reports, real estate packets, and other customer-facing documents.
Manuals and Reference Materials
Produce training manuals, policy books, instruction guides, catalogs, employee materials, and office reference documents.
Menus and Short-Run Books
Bind restaurant menus, hospitality materials, event books, product guides, portfolios, and polished short-run publications.
Crystal Flex Covers are a strong choice when you want the title page visible and the finished document to look cleaner, more permanent, and more professional than a standard report cover.
Custom Presentation Options
Title Page Branding
Place your logo, client name, report title, project information, or custom artwork on the first printed page.
The crystal-clear front keeps that information visible and creates a customized appearance without printing directly on the cover.
Custom Cover Projects
Foil stamping, custom printing, and other branded presentation options may be available for larger projects.

More About Crystal Flex Covers
Crystal Flex Covers are designed for professional thermal binding systems that create finished documents without punching holes through the pages. The steel spine holds the pages in position while the SteelResin™ adhesive bonds the document edge.
The clear front makes each document feel customized because the printed title page becomes the visible cover. This is especially useful when each report, proposal, manual, menu, or presentation requires a different title, project name, or customer name.
These covers are a practical choice for offices, schools, print shops, training departments, restaurants, real estate teams, professional-service firms, and businesses that produce polished bound documents in-house.
Manufactured by Peleman Industries
Peleman Industries has specialized in professional document presentation since 1939. Unibind systems and covers are engineered for reliable thermal binding, polished presentation quality, and repeatable in-house production.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Crystal Flex Covers compatible with my Unibind machine?
Yes. Crystal Flex Covers work with the UniBinder 60, UniBinder 120, UniBinder 8.1, UniBinder 8.2, and other compatible Unibind and Peleman thermal binding systems.
How do I choose the right spine size?
Count the pages, note the paper weight, and use the capacity chart. Include the thickness of any tabs, inserts, dividers, or specialty sheets when selecting a size.
Is the Crystal Flex Cover all one piece?
Yes. The clear front cover, thermal binding spine, and matte back cover are attached as one complete piece.
Are Crystal Flex Covers reusable?
Crystal Flex Covers are editable, not reusable. Small page adjustments can be made by carefully reheating the same document, but the covers are not designed for reuse on a new project.
Do Crystal Flex Covers resist moisture?
The plastic cover provides light protection from handling and minor spills, but the finished document should not be considered waterproof.
Can I mix different paper weights?
Yes, as long as the total document thickness remains within the selected cover capacity. Choose the next larger spine when the document is close to the limit.
Can I use vPaper with Crystal Flex Covers?
Yes. vPaper can improve how the finished document opens and lays on a desk or table. Because 32 lb. vPaper is thicker than standard 20 lb. copy paper, use the 32 lb. capacity column when selecting a cover size.
Can Crystal Flex Covers be customized?
Custom presentation options may be available depending on the project. Contact us for help with custom printing, foil stamping, branded covers, or larger presentation orders.
