Move Battery Charging Off Open Work Surfaces

Rechargeable batteries are often charged on workbenches, shelves, carts, desks, and inside ordinary utility cabinets. These arrangements can leave batteries, chargers, cords, and equipment exposed or poorly organized.

A Phoenix® Battery Commander™ creates a centralized location designed specifically for lithium-ion battery storage and charging.

  • Centralizes batteries and chargers in one location
  • Reduces charging clutter on open work surfaces
  • Helps control access to stored batteries and equipment
  • Supports consistent facility charging procedures
  • Separates batteries and chargers across organized shelf levels

Battery Commander™ Cabinet Features

Phoenix® Battery Commander™ cabinets combine insulated construction, secure locking, adjustable shelving, ventilation support, and built-in charging capacity. Compare these features along with cabinet size, outlet count, battery volume, placement area, and delivery access.

Phoenix Battery Commander external ventilation connection port

Ventilation Connection

The cabinet ventilation port supports connection to an external ventilation duct when required by the facility, application, or battery-safety plan.

Phoenix Battery Commander multipoint locking handle and dimple-key lock

Multipoint Locking

The multipoint locking system is designed to help keep the cabinet doors securely closed. A pick-resistant dimple-key lock helps control access to stored batteries and chargers.

Insulated Steel Construction

Double-wall steel construction, insulation, and specialized door seals provide greater strength and heat resistance than an ordinary metal utility cabinet.

Phoenix Battery Commander height-adjustable insulated shelf

Adjustable Insulated Shelving

Heavy-duty, height-adjustable shelves accommodate different charger sizes, help separate charging levels, and are rated to support up to 220 pounds per shelf.

Built-in charging outlets inside a Phoenix Battery Commander cabinet

Built-In Charging Capacity

UL-listed power distribution units provide built-in charging outlets inside the cabinet. Current models range from 6 outlets in the BSS6100 to 40 outlets in the BSS6105.

Six current cabinet sizes: Choose from the BSS6100, BSS6101, BSS6102, BSS6103, BSS6104, and BSS6105 based on outlet requirements, shelf count, battery volume, available floor space, and facility access.

Compare Phoenix Battery Commander Models

Start by estimating how many chargers your facility uses each day. Include additional capacity for future battery purchases, replacement equipment, seasonal demand, and organizational growth. Also compare approximate empty weight when planning delivery, floor access, and final placement.

Full-Service Delivery and Final Placement

Phoenix Battery Commander cabinets are heavy commercial products. Before ordering, measure all doorways, hallways, elevators, loading areas, stairways, and the intended placement location.

Advanced Filing Concepts includes standard full-service set-in-place delivery in the advertised price. The delivery team brings the cabinet inside, positions it in the approved final location, removes the packaging, and removes normal shipping debris.

Stairs, narrow entrances, restricted truck access, residential locations, remote areas, elevators, special flooring, after-hours appointments, and other unusual conditions may require additional review or charges.

Important: A battery storage cabinet should be used as one part of an overall lithium-ion battery safety program. Follow the battery and charger manufacturers’ instructions, your facility safety procedures, applicable codes, and guidance from local authorities.

Lithium-Ion Battery Storage Cabinets FAQ

Start with the number of batteries and chargers your facility manages each day. Then compare outlet count, shelf space, cabinet size, locking, ventilation support, delivery access, and final placement area. For commercial use, purpose-built lithium battery storage cabinets are a better fit than ordinary utility cabinets.

Yes. Phoenix Battery Commander cabinets include built-in charging outlets so compatible lithium-ion batteries and chargers can be charged inside the cabinet. Always follow battery and charger manufacturer instructions and your facility’s safety procedures.

A lithium battery storage cabinet is used to organize and secure batteries in one dedicated location. A lithium battery charging cabinet also includes built-in power outlets so batteries can be charged inside the cabinet. Phoenix Battery Commander models are designed as lithium battery storage and charging cabinets.

Choose based on your daily battery volume, number of chargers, outlet count, shelf capacity, and available floor space. Smaller models work well for offices, labs, tool rooms, and light maintenance areas. Larger models are better for warehouses, public works departments, schools, utilities, fleet operations, and centralized charging rooms.

Store lithium-ion batteries in a clean, dry, organized area away from clutter, excessive heat, moisture, physical damage, and general storage. A dedicated cabinet helps centralize battery storage and charging instead of spreading chargers across benches, shelves, carts, and desks.
