Phoenix BSS6100 Battery Commander Charging Cabinet
The Phoenix Battery Commander BSS6100 is the smallest cabinet in the BSS series, designed for organizations that need a dedicated lithium-ion battery charging location in a compact footprint. It includes 6 charging outlets, 1 UL-listed power distribution unit, and an open interior charging area without shelves.
With a maximum battery capacity of 2,500 Wh, the BSS6100 is an excellent fit for warehouses, universities, municipalities, utilities, emergency services, fleet operations, laboratories, contractors, and other battery-dependent facilities. Phoenix designed the cabinet to help minimize fire damage by limiting the direct transfer of heat and flames to the exterior during a thermal-runaway event or battery explosion while charging.

At approximately 390 lbs., the BSS6100 ships by freight and requires delivery planning. Confirm truck access, receiving hours, doorway and hallway clearances, turning radius, elevator dimensions and capacity, floor conditions, and the final placement location before shipment.
- Full-Service Set-in-Place Delivery: Included for qualifying commercial locations. Service generally includes uncartoning, movement to the approved final location, placement, and removal of packaging materials.
- Loading-Dock Delivery: Available for facilities equipped to unload and move the palletized cabinet. Select the corresponding product option for any applicable delivery credit.

Stairs, restricted truck access, tight turns, long carries, floor protection, certificates of insurance, residential locations, or other unusual site conditions may require additional review. Contact Advanced Filing Concepts before ordering if you are unsure about delivery access.
Planning and Operating Notes
The BSS6100 is designed for professional facility use. During site planning, allow room for the doors to open fully, keep the top ventilation outlet clear, and maintain at least 6 inches of clearance behind the cabinet.
The Phoenix user manual calls for the ventilation outlet to connect to an independent outdoor exhaust duct with airflow of at least 18 CFM. This should be incorporated into the facility plan with the appropriate ventilation, electrical, and fire-safety professionals.
Important charging, inspection, and emergency guidance
- Install the cabinet indoors on a level, firm surface in a well-ventilated area and away from flammable substances, high humidity, and extreme temperature changes.
- Keep the cabinet doors closed and locked while batteries are charging.
- Use certified chargers and manufacturer-recommended batteries, and follow the battery manufacturer's instructions.
- Use only the installed PDUs. Do not place extension cords or additional power sources inside the cabinet.
- Do not exceed the PDU rating or the cabinet's 2,500 Wh total battery-capacity limit.
- Do not stack batteries while charging or storing them.
- Internal and external cables must not be modified except by qualified professionals.
- Inspect the cabinet at least every six months for impact, deformation, damaged door seals, moisture, and ventilation problems.
- If the cabinet exterior becomes warm, internal noise is detected, or smoke is visible, do not open the doors; contact emergency services immediately.
- For long-term storage, Phoenix recommends approximately 40–60% battery charge, subject to the battery manufacturer's instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many batteries can the BSS6100 hold?
Battery sizes and Wh ratings vary, so there is no universal battery-count limit. The cabinet provides 6 outlets and must remain within its 2,500 Wh total battery-capacity limit and the rated electrical capacity of the PDU.
Does the cabinet include shelves and power outlets?
The BSS6100 includes no shelves. Its open interior charging area includes one UL-listed PDU and 6 outlets.
Does the BSS6100 need an outdoor ventilation connection?
Yes. Phoenix instructs users to connect the top outlet to an independent outdoor exhaust duct providing at least 18 CFM. Include this connection in your site plan before placing the cabinet into service.
Are extension cords or additional power strips permitted inside?
No. Phoenix instructs users to rely only on the installed PDUs and not place extension cords or other power sources inside the cabinet.
