Phoenix World Class Lateral File • Model LAT2W44

The Phoenix LAT2W44 is a 2-drawer, 44" wide lateral fireproof file cabinet that combines generous letter- and legal-size filing capacity with a convenient 28-3/4" cabinet height, one-hour paper protection, 30-foot impact protection, and water-resistant construction.

This lower-profile cabinet is designed for offices that want wide lateral filing without the height of a 3- or 4-drawer cabinet. It is well suited to private offices, reception areas, administrative workstations, law firms, healthcare practices, financial departments, schools, government offices, and other records-heavy organizations.

The standard letter-size arrangement uses three front-to-back filing rows. Optional hanging bars allow letter- or legal-size folders to be filed side-to-side. Phoenix proprietary insulation separates each drawer into its own protected compartment, and the plunger lock secures both drawers while the lock-bypass feature can keep a selected drawer accessible.

Dimensions and Filing Arrangements

Each drawer provides 38" of interior width and 15" of interior depth. The standard letter-size setup uses three front-to-back filing rows. The optional configurations shown below use hanging bars to position letter- or legal-size folders side-to-side.

Phoenix LAT2W44 Features

  • Two full-width lateral drawers: Provides generous 44" filing capacity in a lower-profile cabinet that is easier to position beside desks, workstations, or counters.
  • Separately insulated drawers: Insulation between drawers makes each closed drawer an individual protected compartment if the other drawer is open.
  • Three-way drawer suspension: Supports each loaded drawer from both sides and underneath.
  • High drawer bodies and filing crossbars: Supports hanging folders in the standard front-to-back arrangement.
  • Inner and outer steel construction: Proprietary insulation is fully encased between steel walls and kept away from documents, suspension hardware, and the locking system.
  • Insulated welded drawer heads: Each drawer head interlocks with the cabinet body through the labyrinth sealing system to help resist heat transfer.
  • Key-operated plunger lock: Secures both drawers at once and includes two keys.

Phoenix Delivery Options

Free white-glove delivery is included for this 592 lb. cabinet. Commercial and residential delivery are available. The delivery route, service level, truck access, and placement conditions are confirmed before shipment.

Full-Service White-Glove Delivery

The delivery crew brings the cabinet inside along an approved route, uncartons it, positions it in the designated location, and removes standard packaging. Stairs and unusual access conditions require advance review.

Dock or Curbside Delivery

AVAILABLE

For dock delivery, the facility must have dock-height receiving and the ability to unload the pallet. For curbside delivery, the carrier lowers the packaged cabinet to ground level and leaves it outside at the nearest safely accessible hard surface.

Inside Doorway or Garage Delivery

AVAILABLE

The packaged cabinet is moved through one accessible ground-level exterior doorway or into an accessible garage. Final placement, unpacking, stairs, and packaging removal are not included with this service level.

Tell us about special access before shipment. Stairs, tight turns, elevators, narrow doors, long carries, small-truck access, restricted or remote locations, and other unusual site conditions may require advance approval and additional charges. Undisclosed conditions may cause delivery fees or restocking charges if the cabinet is returned.

Fire and Protection Ratings

  • NT Fire 017 60 Paper Rated: Includes a one-hour fire test at 1700°F. Phoenix states that this classification is considered equivalent to UL Class 350 1-Hour Fire and Impact protection for paper records.
  • 30-Foot Impact Certified: Tested for impact resistance during a 30-foot fall in compliance with KIS standards, simulating structural collapse during a fire.
  • Explosion-Hazard Tested: Tested for sudden exposure to 2000°F flash-fire conditions to evaluate resistance to explosive rupture.
  • MTC Grade B 30-Minute Media Rating: Provides limited protection for certain less-sensitive media such as CDs, DVDs, USB drives, flash drives, and memory sticks. Use a dedicated media safe for sensitive or magnetic media.
  • Water-Resistant Construction: The labyrinth sealing system and special gaskets help resist water from automatic sprinklers and fire-hose spray. Water resistant does not mean waterproof or suitable for submersion.

Phoenix Warranty Coverage

The LAT2W44 includes Phoenix’s 3-year parts and labor warranty. It also includes Phoenix Free After-a-Fire Replacement protection if the file cabinet is exposed to a fire.

All Phoenix products carry a three-year parts and labor warranty against manufacturer defects. This warranty will not cover malfunctions caused by product misuse or abuse. Warranty service must be preauthorized by Phoenix's Technical Service Department, and the warranty registration information should be on file with Phoenix. Warranty is provided only to the original purchaser and is not transferrable. All Phoenix insulated files and safes also carry a lifetime Free After-A-Fire Replacement warranty to the original purchaser of the product. Phoenix will replace the product with a like model free of charge in exchange for photos and a testimonial letter detailing the circumstance of the fire and how the product performed.
