Phoenix World Class Lateral File • Model LAT2W38

The Phoenix LAT2W38 is a 2-drawer, 38-3/4" wide lateral fireproof file cabinet that combines generous letter- and legal-size filing capacity with a low 28-3/4" profile, one-hour paper protection, 30-foot impact protection, and water-resistant construction.

The LAT2W38 provides more drawer width than the 31" model while using less floor space than the 44" cabinet. Its lower height makes it a practical choice for private offices, reception areas, administrative workstations, shared offices, and records areas that do not require a taller three- or four-drawer file.

The standard filing arrangement supports two front-to-back rows of either letter- or legal-size folders. Optional hanging bars allow letter- or legal-size folders to be filed side-to-side. Phoenix proprietary insulation separates each drawer into its own protected compartment, and the plunger lock secures both drawers while the lock-bypass feature can keep a selected drawer accessible.

Dimensions and Filing Arrangements

Each drawer provides 32-1/2" of interior width and 15" of interior depth. The standard arrangements use two front-to-back filing rows for either letter- or legal-size folders. The optional arrangements use hanging bars to position either folder size side-to-side.

  • Two full-width lateral drawers: Provides wide, accessible filing capacity in a lower-profile cabinet that fits more office layouts than a taller three- or four-drawer model.
  • Low 28-3/4" cabinet height: The top may serve as a light-duty file-sorting surface or support suitable office equipment when the placement area and floor conditions allow.
  • Separately insulated drawers: Insulation between drawers makes each closed drawer an individual protected compartment if another drawer is open.

Phoenix Delivery Options

Free full-service delivery is included for this 483 lb. cabinet. Commercial and residential delivery are available. The delivery route, service level, truck access, and placement conditions are confirmed before shipment.

Full-Service Set-in-Place Delivery

INCLUDED

The delivery crew brings the cabinet inside along an approved route, uncartons it, positions it in the designated location, and removes standard packaging. Stairs and unusual access conditions require advance review.

Dock or Curbside Delivery

AVAILABLE

For dock delivery, the facility must have dock-height receiving and the ability to unload the pallet. For curbside delivery, the carrier lowers the packaged cabinet to ground level and leaves it outside at the nearest safely accessible hard surface.

Inside Doorway or Garage Delivery

AVAILABLE

The packaged cabinet is moved through one accessible ground-level exterior doorway or into an accessible garage. Final placement, unpacking, stairs, and packaging removal are not included with this service level.

Tell us about special access before shipment. Stairs, tight turns, elevators, narrow doors, long carries, small-truck access, restricted or remote locations, and other unusual site conditions may require advance approval and additional charges. Undisclosed conditions may cause delivery fees or restocking charges if the cabinet is returned.

Fire and Protection Ratings

  • Class 350 One-Hour Paper Protection: Tested for one hour at 1700°F to help keep paper records below their critical temperature during a fire.
  • 30-Foot Impact Certified: Tested for impact resistance during a 30-foot fall, simulating a structural collapse during a fire.
  • Explosion-Hazard Tested: Tested for sudden exposure to 2000°F flash-fire conditions to evaluate resistance to explosive rupture.
  • MTC Grade B 30-Minute Media Rating: Provides limited protection for certain less-sensitive media such as CDs, DVDs, USB drives, flash drives, and memory sticks. Use a dedicated media safe for sensitive or magnetic media.
  • Water-Resistant Construction: The labyrinth sealing system and special gaskets help resist water from automatic sprinklers and fire-hose spray. Water resistant does not mean waterproof or suitable for submersion.

Phoenix Warranty Coverage

The LAT2W38 includes Phoenix’s 3-year parts and labor warranty. It also includes Phoenix Free After-a-Fire Replacement protection if the file cabinet is exposed to a fire.

Warranty service must be preauthorized by Phoenix's Technical Service Department, and the warranty registration information should be on file with Phoenix. Warranty is provided only to the original purchaser and is not transferrable. All Phoenix insulated files and safes also carry a lifetime Free After-A-Fire Replacement warranty to the original purchaser of the product. Phoenix will replace the product with a like model free of charge in exchange for photos and a testimonial letter detailing the circumstance of the fire and how the product performed.
