Phoenix LGL4W31 Fireproof File Cabinet combines certified fire protection with flexible storage capacity for both letter and legal-size folders. Engineered with proprietary Styronite® insulation and UL Class 350 1-hour fire protection, this 31" deep cabinet is ideal for high-capacity environments that demand security, organization, and long-term durability. Each drawer is individually insulated and secured by a key-operated plunger lock. Available in Light Gray, Putty, or Black.

Drawers have a rugged three-way suspension system to provide stability and ensure smooth, easy movement even when fully loaded. Each drawer is a separate insulated container with an inner steel jacket keeping insulation locked and out of sight. This prevents fire from jumping to another drawer if one is accidentally left open and prevents access to a locked drawer if one is left open.

High Security Key Lock is included with two keys. The lock is located on the top drawer and immediately locks or unlocks all drawers at once. Durable oven-baked textured enamel paint finish will not leave fingerprints. Your purchase includes a 3-Year Parts & Labor Warranty on the entire cabinet and lock, plus a Lifetime After-a-Fire Replacement Warranty.

Do I need to assemble anything when it arrives?

No. This cabinet arrives fully assembled and ready to use. Just open the drawers and start filing — we handle the heavy lifting.

Is it water-resistant as well as fireproof?

Yes. While not fully waterproof, Phoenix fireproof cabinets are designed with internal seals and insulated drawer construction to offer water resistance against fire hoses and sprinkler systems during a fire.

Can I store other valuables in it besides documents?

Absolutely. Many customers use it to store hard drives, passports, and contracts that need both heat protection and secure access.

How do the drawers lock?

The key-operated plunger lock secures all drawers at once. Two keys are provided.

Does it have anti-tip safety?

Yes. A drawer interlock system allows only one drawer to open at a time to reduce tipping risk.

Can it be bolted to the floor?

No. Drilling would compromise fireproof insulation. Its 550 lb weight provides excellent stability without anchoring.

How do I clean or maintain the finish?

The enamel finish resists scratches and fingerprints. Wipe with a soft cloth and mild cleaner as needed — no special maintenance required.

Can I use hanging folders?

Yes. Hanging folder rails are included for both front-to-back and side-to-side filing. You can purchase Hanging File Folders or Top Tab File Folders.

What’s the difference between this and the LTR4W31 model?

The LGL4W31 is wider and supports both legal and letter-size files. The LTR4W31 is narrower and optimized for letter-size only.

Can it survive a zombie apocalypse?

It’s UL-tested for fire, impact, and explosions — not zombies. That said, at 550 pounds with steel drawers, it makes a decent barricade.

All Phoenix products carry a three-year parts and labor warranty against manufacturer defects. This warranty will not cover malfunctions caused by product misuse or abuse. Warranty service must be preauthorized by Phoenix's Technical Service Department, and the warranty registration information should be on file with Phoenix. Warranty is provided only to the original purchaser and is not transferrable. All Phoenix insulated files and safes also carry a lifetime Free After-A-Fire Replacement warranty to the original purchaser of the product. Phoenix will replace the product with a like model free of charge in exchange for photos and a testimonial letter detailing the circumstance of the fire and how the product performed.
