Product Description
Thermal Binding Spines (11-Inch) for Unibind and Peleman Systems
Unibind Spine Covers (by Peleman) are versatile thermal binding spines for flexible, custom presentations. Unlike UniCover Flex, they do not include attached acetate covers—use your own front/back covers, Unibind CoverSets, or even bind without covers. Each steel spine includes a tear-away paper guide for easy loading on any Unibind machine. Formerly called SteelBack, these spines now also support crimping for a tighter finish.
What are Unibind Spine Covers? They’re cover-only spines that accept your pages (and optional custom covers), ideal for Letter-size portrait books, 11×17 landscape books, and top-bound (letter landscape) documents.

Frequently Asked Questions – Unibind Spine Covers
What’s the difference between UniCover Flex and these spines?
UniCover Flex includes attached clear/matte covers. These spines are cover-only (no acetate), so you can use your own front/back covers—or none at all.
Are the spines reusable?
No. Spines aren’t reusable for a new project, but they are editable for the same book. You can reheat the bound spine, swap or remove 1–2 sheets, and then rebind. For a different document, use a new spine.
Do I need to crimp?
Crimping is optional but recommended on thicker books. It compresses the spine so sheets seat deeper into the SteelResin™ for a tighter bind.
How do I choose the right size?
Use the chart above. Count sheets (include covers) and choose based on your paper weight (20 lb vs 32 lb). When in doubt, size up and crimp.
Can I bind 11×17 landscape?
Yes. These 11" spines support 11×17 landscape books. For letter landscape (top-bound), see the 8" spine format.
